About Me
My name is Katie Venti and I am currently in my seventh year as Head of School at City Christian School in Ventura, California. After having children I made a major career change moving from graphic design to substitute teaching. It began as a way to work at my boys' school and be present on their campus, but after substituting for a few classes of Middle School History, I was hooked! In 2014 I became the full-time Middle School Math teacher at City Christian and in August of 2018 I stepped into the position of Head of School.
Since the age of 16 my greatest desire has been to love God and serve His purposes in the local church. While in Bible college I began working for our church and continued in administration and graphic design for over 10 years before taking several years to be at home as my boys were born. Throughout these years my passion for the next generation and the church continued to grow. In 2010 my husband and I, along with our three sons, moved to Ventura, California to help our pastors start a church. They had been given a church building that included a PreK through 8th Christian school that began in 1979. It is here that I began substitute teaching and over time moved into the position of Head of School. Working in Christian education is a tremendous honor. Being able to help shape a Biblical worldview in the next generation and preparing them for their future is a privilege and responsibility that I consider sacred.
Although I absolutely love my job, my very favorite place in the world is with my family. Phil and I have been married for over 22 years, and we have been extremely blessed with our three teenage sons.
It is from a place of passion for family, education, and the local church that I began this blog. My desire is to expand the reach of a community engagement initiative at our school to other parents, educators, and schools. Partner. Encourage. Connect. is a place to engage in thought-provoking conversations that relate to parents and educators alike; to hopefully bridge the gap and bring a greater unity in our Christian school communities. Thank you for being here and joining in the conversation together, our schools are truly better when we all work together as a team!
